The best thing about this marathon was the medals and having bathroom facilities available in the parks!
The weather turned hot and humid for the weekend. Coming from Seattle, it made the race tough.
The quality of shirts seems inferior. My full marathon shirt has a cut in the sleeve. It looks like someone cut too deeply when they opened the box. I've contacted the website but would be surprised if I get a response. The sizes are alot smaller than other marathon shirts I have earned.
The beverage volunteers were trying but kept running out of refreshments or cups. There were some stops when I could get one beverage but not the other. At the first few water stops, we had to go to the table to get our refreshments. There were not enough volunteers to hand you the liquid. They ran out of oranges at one of the stops. On Saturday, there were banana peels all over the street near where the bananas were handed out.
It seemed there were not enough clean up folks. There were several areas that were treacherous due to the quantity of cups on the ground.
After the half marathon, we were dismayed to be told they ran out of medals. Even though it's only a half, a person looks forward to having the medal placed around your neck. Fortunately, the medals were found and life was good. This required us to wait in another line after we had already completed the run.
On Saturday, we dutifully took the 3am bus for some reason. We were smarter the next day and took the 4:45am bus and still had plenty of time before the race.
For $190, I was expecting alot more.
