Ok…I came close to my PR yesterday on the Marathon. It’s kind of hard to believe but my fastest time was 4:09 back in 2001. Obviously with a little more age and a few more pounds beating a PR is difficult to do (that is unless you have a life devoted to training).
The Half
I set a goal of 1:49 for the half (which I ran on satuday). I ran a 1:52. I beat my time from last year so it was a win. I could have pushed myself a little harder to be honest…however given the temperatures I wanted to conserve energy for the full marathon the next day.

The Full
I set a goal of 4:20 for the full marathon. I ran a 4:20:29. Not to bad…but there a strong chance for me to beat my PR. I was 10 minutes off…perhaps if I didn’t walk as much in the last few miles I could have done it. I met my goals so it was a “win” weekend.
I ended up running the race with Dave and Bryon (buddies from church). Dave finished the full in 4:15, and Bryon finished it in 4:17. I should mention that Dave’s longest run this season was 5 miles…must be genetics! Overall we did not do that bad given that the finish line temperature was 80 degrees!
