Who needs magic? Water would be nice

Running off at the typewriter . . .
There have been several complaints from Disney Marathon volunteers who say the event was marred last weekend when one of the water stops actually ran out of water during the late stages of the race.
"Beyond belief," e-mailed Georgia Zampella, who worked at Water Stop No. 19 during the marathon.
"People were actually crying," said another one of the volunteers. "It was like a death march. It was horrible. If you don't give people water during a marathon, you're endangering lives."
Race director Jon Hughes says one of the water stops ran out of water and that others ran low.
That's inexcusable.
Memo to Disney bean-counters: There are two things you need to put on a marathon -- lots of pavement and lots of water! And you absolutely don't skimp on the water. There's more to putting on a world-class distance run than simply having Mickey Mouse wave to participants as they're running through Cinderella Castle.
Then again, it could have been worse: Disney could have had Tigger at the water stop whacking those whiny runners who complained about being thirsty.
