Walt Disney World Race for the Taste 10K: Chester Scott

It was a hectic weekend for me and DD14.

We left the house at 6:00am Saturday to head for the Seminole Girls Soccer Tournament in Lake Mary.

First Game was at 9:45am. The girls tied 1-1 against the team they lost in overtime to during a tournament Labor Day weekend.

After the game we headed back to WWOS for packet pick-up. Grabbed a quick lunch and returned to Lake Mary.

Second Game was at 3:00pm. The girls won 3-0.

Considered heading back to WDW, but changed our minds and decided to have a nice dinner and go to bed early.

Woke up at 4:00am Sunday and left the hotel at 5:00am. Arrived at EPCOT around 5:45am and rode the bus back to WWOS. Hydrated, geared up, stretched and made my way to the start. About 5 minutes from the gun, the Mullet Marathon Team showed up. These four guys were hilarious.

Then gun went off and I crossed the line 1:13 later. The first mile and a half was a little congested, so I went with the flow and hung with the Mullet Marathon Team (which was broadcasting theme music from the Rocky movies). I think I passed Mel and her DD near this point, but I wasn't able to make the mini meet and I was't sure (plus, I didn't have my W.I.S.H. shirt on, but I was sporting a bright lime green Race Ready singlet). Eventually space opened up and I went into my 9:30 mpm pace mode.

I finished 57 out of 100 in my age group with a net time of 59:39. The second 3.1 miles sure seemed further than my training run course. Garmin 305 indicated a distance of 6.33 miles.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to hang around for long after the race because DD had an 11:30am game and I had to get back to the Hotel to get her up and going.

Third game was at 11:30am. The girls tied 1-1 against the team that was currently in first place, so they got to face them again in the championship game.

Championship game was at 3:00pm. The girls lost this time 2-0. Both goals were scored on corner kicks. DD is the goalie, and did a great job defending shots on goal, but couldn't defend the corner kicks.

Results: DD got a silver medal for second place and I got a gold finishers medal. Bling Bling.

Chester
