For those who were jealous of us
Floridians and the "warm" weather, let me say you got your revenge! We were up
at 3 am to be at the tent area by 4. It was freakin' cold, not just cool.
Cold. We huddled in one of the drop off tents for an hour until they kicked us
out of there, then went over to the start area and stood around for about 30
minutes.
Race got started in the dark. Sun up
around 7'ish, but it never really warmed up like they said it would in sunny
Florida. It stayed chilly and cool the whole race, and it took its toll on
everyone of us. We were about 15 to 30 minutes slower than usual. But it was
fun nonetheless. It was a flat course that went through all of the theme
parks. It was a bit boring running in-between but we looked at the scenery and
passersby were tooting their horns and wishing us well.
Each park was nice. Pretty good crowd
support although they were subdued for the most part. Pretty well run by
Disney all in all. Coach and I ran together the whole race. Found Ray
"Birdman" Birdsell and his sister-in-law just before they turned for the
finish of the 1/2 marathon. he was looking cool, calm and collected. Saw Ma~Ma
at mile 19 as she was making her way. She looked fine and dandy too.
We were hitting the parks at about 2pm
after showers and power naps. Had fun at all the parks. Rides were very cool.
Our worst time was getting from the
airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the airport. Mears transport was a
mess. Rob Palmisano had to call 4 times and raise a ruckus to get them to come
pick us up. Other than that a nice time. Others will chime in I'm sure about
their race reports.
