Just saw the photos!!! What fun! My only regret is that I didn't hug Mickey
as I crossed the finish for a great photo op. Oh well, I got enough fun
photos with everyone else.
Wake-up call from Mickey came at 3am at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I took
someone's advice and had everything laid out and ready to put on.
Headed to the food court to find tons of runners already up! My "Scream
Team" came with me.
Lucky for us the buses were slow and we never left AKL until 4:45am or so.
Got to the start just in time to use the potty and head out!
After running three Bostons, I must say the "flavor" of Disney was
different! Yes, there is nothing like Boston, but the spirit of enjoyment
seemed a lot higher in Disney. Just the outfits alone..LOL!
Running through a lighted Epcot....with that music....I had tears in my
eyes. Saw my family as planned.
Magic Kingdom was a major highlight for me! Going down Main St and that
Castle..............ah!!! Saw family again.
Loved all the characters, inspirational signs and Disney quizes! I took 27
photos, and got some incredible moments on film. Unfortunately I never
thought to save any for the finishline.
My family did get me coming down the homestretch!!! I cried when they
placed that Mickey medal on me.
I found the race to be so wonderful. I wasn't happy with the roads though,
and felt they did a number on my knees.
Big highlight was spending lots of road time with fellow Penguin Cassie and
a brief moment with Stephanie. I finished about 6:25. I am amazed how
close many of us finished, but we never met.
Cassie you helped me soooooooooooooo much!!! You're a doll!
I recovered quickly and stayed up till after midnight. My only regret was I
didn't get to meet more Penguins. This was my fourth and final
marathon.........unless I hit the lottery and don't have to work or keep a
house anymore.
Happy Trails everyone and Waddle On,
